Figure 5.36 from Quantum Organizations
Self-Managing Processes Within/Across Subunits
A Brief Description of the Figure from Quantum Organizations
Being explicit about describing, controlling, and improving business processes within horizontal subunits as well as processes (task flows) that fall between boundaries -- this is exactly what a quantum organization is self-designed to do! As shown in Figure 5.36, most task flow for achieving strategic objectives can be self-contained by business processes. Through teamwork and cooperation across boundaries (as supported by quantum infrastructures), cross-business processes can be explicitly managed. Further, cross-business process teams can be established -- if extra help is needed. But if it takes many such teams to handle the excessive task flow between subunits, it’s time to take another systematic look at strategy-structure!
